How many times have you woken up on a Monday morning after a weekend on the water, only to feel like youve spent a session in a boxing ring? It’s easy to see why when you look at today’s complex water ski designs and subsequent physical impact on your body.
According to Water Ski Mag (2012), ankle injuries are the most common water ski injury due to the fixed position of the boot. After two serious ankle injuries in our family we started riding freeboards more than normal water skies. Over time we started riding wider freeboard’s to lessen the strain on our bodies. A ‘Ridiculous Water Ski’ with its boot-free design, allows total foot rotation lessoning the risk of ankle injury and overall strain on the joints.
Its custom, simple design is very easy to ride – even for beginner water-skiers …. This is due to its flat bottom and construction from premium AA Grade Australian Marine Ply: these two features help to reduce drag in the water and create a simple, light ski that is easy to use and easy on the body
• Ideal for skiing behind Jetskis due to less drag and pull.
• Ideal for beginners as much easier than traditional doubles to learn on.
• This one ski can accommodate everyone from the starter skier to the experienced wanting to barefoot or do tricks.

Wayne (46, Male, Ridiculous Water Skis’ Designer):
“After 40 years and numerous water-skiing injuries from both social and competitive skiing, I had to either give up or find something new to ski on. Coupled with this, over the last three years, my own family has experienced two broken ankles which were caused by the restrictive boot design of traditional water skis. This prompted me to use my knowledge of water ski design to create a freeboard range which provides riders the experience of a traditional ski but with a twist! Ridiculous Water Skis can be likened to the oversize single skies produced by most water ski manufacturers, however, its boot-free design allows riders to ski backwards, complete180s or 360s, wake-surf, and much much more.”
Tina (48, Female, Arthritis sufferer)
I have been a social skier for over 30 years and loved every minute of it until 10 years ago when I found I was having a lot of trouble holding on to the rope when being pulled from the water. I bought gloves and that helped a little but then I started experiencing stiffness in my fingers and joint pain for a week or two after a weekend on the water. I was finding I couldn't hold on for long without it becoming too painful in my wrists. I persevered like this until a number of years ago when I would only have one or two skis for the entire weekend and then the rest of the time I would be boat driver.
Wayne introduced me to the 'Ridiculous Water Ski'. Wow! How do I express in a few lines just how these boards have changed my life on the water? No longer do I have to wear gloves and only ski for a few minutes then have to drop off due to not having the strength to hold on to the rope. No longer do I have joint pain in my fingers and suffer for weeks on end when trying to grasp an item or hold anything in my hands. No longer am I the one that has to drive the boat due to not being able to ski! I had always planned on skiing into my twilight years and now thanks to the clever design of 'Ridiculous Skis' and the limited drag and pull on me when getting out of the water or whilst under tow I can realize that dream. Thank you Wayne for a fantastic product and giving me lots of fun back on the water.
Ridiculous Water Skis are custom-made skis & come in three sizes to suit water skiers, wake-surfers & skim-boarders. Suitable for all ages and levels.
